Kungsträdgården is a long central park in Stockholm that began as a royal kitchen garden and later became a public promenade and gathering place. Bordered by rows of trees, cafes and statues, it hosts open-air concerts, seasonal markets and a winter ice rink. In spring the double avenue of cherry trees draws crowds when the blossom appears. Flanked by department stores and cultural venues, the park functions as an everyday meeting point at the city's core and a stage for public events throughout the year.
