Guyana's national library occupies a stately Carnegie-funded building at the corner of Main and Church Streets in Georgetown. Beyond its lending collections, it serves as the country's legal deposit institution and holds valuable Caribbeana and local history material. The building itself is a fine example of the capital's early 20th-century civic architecture.
