The Guyana National Museum in central Georgetown presents the country's natural history and cultural heritage across several floors. Displays include stuffed specimens of Guyanese wildlife such as jaguars, giant river creatures and native birds, alongside geological samples, colonial artefacts and models illustrating the nation's history. Established in the colonial period, the museum has long introduced schoolchildren to the region's biodiversity and past. Its varied collections offer a broad overview of the land and peoples of Guyana.
