Teatro Metropolitano de Medellin

The Teatro Metropolitano Jose Gutierrez Gomez in Medellin is the city's main concert hall, opened in 1987 in a distinctive red-brick modernist building beside the Medellin River. Home to the Antioquia Philharmonic Orchestra, it seats around 1,600 and is used for symphonic concerts, opera, ballet and a range of other performances. Its warm acoustics and central location have made it a cornerstone of the city's cultural life. The bold brick architecture reflects a regional building tradition.
