National Theatre of China

The National Theatre of China is a state-run drama company and stage in the capital, tracing its roots to troupes founded in the mid-twentieth century and consolidated into its present form in 2001. It stages spoken-word plays, adaptations of classic Chinese literature and contemporary works, often touring internationally. Its productions blend traditional storytelling with modern staging, and the company nurtures leading actors and directors.
