The Oslo Concert Hall, opened in 1977, is the principal home of the Oslo Philharmonic and a major venue for orchestral music in Norway. Its modernist design, faced in stone with a broad rectangular auditorium, was engineered for symphonic acoustics and seats around 1,400. Beyond classical concerts it hosts a wide range of events and previously staged parts of the Nobel Peace Prize festivities. Located near the royal palace park in the city centre, it complements the older National Theatre and the newer waterfront opera house.
