Slottsparken is the public park surrounding the royal palace in central Oslo, laid out in the nineteenth century as a landscaped setting for the monarch's residence. Open to all year-round, it combines broad lawns, mature trees, ponds and statues with winding paths that draw walkers, joggers and picnickers. A monument to a Norwegian queen and other memorials stand among the greenery, and the park connects directly to the top of the city's main boulevard. Its accessibility and central position make it one of the capital's most-used green spaces.
