Santichaiprakan Park is a small riverside park on the bank of the Chao Phraya in Bangkok's old quarter, built around one of the last surviving fortifications of the historic city wall. The octagonal Phra Sumen Fort, dating to the late eighteenth century, rises white and tiered above the lawns and a venerable rain tree. Its breezy waterfront terrace is a favoured spot for watching sunsets and river traffic, and evenings bring residents out to relax. The park links the backpacker district to the river with shaded green.
