Standing on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya River, this temple is famous for housing one of Bangkok's largest seated Buddha images, a figure so tall that its viharn was built to enclose it. Founded in the reign of King Rama III, the compound reflects strong Chinese artistic influence, visible in its guardian statues and decorative motifs. A large bronze bell hangs in the grounds, and the riverside setting, reached by cross-river ferry, offers views toward the old royal district.
