Also known as Bangkok Noi, this historic station on the Thonburi bank of the river is the western terminus for train services running toward the provinces and the famous wartime railway. The original grand station building, dating from the early twentieth century, was damaged during the Second World War, and its surviving elements now house a small railway museum. Trains still depart from the modest platforms toward Kanchanaburi, and the riverside setting near canals gives it a distinct atmosphere.
