The Plains of Abraham form a large historic park on a plateau above the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec City, part of the wider Battlefields Park. The grounds were the site of a decisive 1759 battle between British and French forces that shaped the course of Canadian history. Today the rolling meadows, once fortified with Martello towers, serve as an urban green space for festivals, concerts and winter sports. Interpretive markers and a museum recount the battle, while the cliffs offer river views.
