The Khoja Ahror Vali Friday Mosque is one of the principal historic mosques of Tashkent's old town. Rebuilt in the nineteenth century on much older foundations dating to the medieval period, it takes its name from a revered fifteenth-century Naqshbandi Sufi master. The mosque forms part of the Hazrati Imam religious complex, which also houses one of the world's oldest Quran manuscripts. Its blue-tiled portal, twin minarets and shaded courtyard make it a focal point of Islamic heritage in the Uzbek capital.
