The Attara Kacheri, a stately red neoclassical building in Bengaluru, houses the High Court of Karnataka and faces the pale Vidhana Soudha across a public avenue. Built in the late nineteenth century, its name refers to the eighteen departments once gathered within, and its arcaded facade of brick and stone is among the most prominent colonial-era public buildings in the city. Corinthian columns and long verandahs front the courtrooms, creating a recognisable civic pairing with the legislature opposite.
