Modelled loosely on English Tudor and Scottish Gothic castles, this sprawling royal residence was built by the Wadiyar rulers of Mysore in the late 19th century. Turrets, battlements and fortified towers rise above wooded grounds in central Bengaluru, while the interior displays carved wood, paintings, portraits and period furniture. Audio-guided tours lead visitors through opulent halls once used for durbars and receptions. The extensive lawns also serve as a venue for concerts and events, making the estate a distinctive city landmark.
