One of the larger lakes within Bengaluru, this centrally located water body is dotted with small islands and fringed by a landscaped promenade. Created in the 16th or 17th century and later expanded, it now offers boating, a swimming pool and shaded walking paths popular with morning joggers. A Gurudwara and temples stand near its banks. Amid the pressures of rapid urban growth, the lake remains a valued green-and-blue space and a reminder of the network of tanks that once watered the city.
