This expansive green lung in the centre of Bengaluru was laid out in the 19th century and named after a former commissioner of the region. Its winding paths, bamboo groves and towering rain trees shelter walkers, joggers and families, while grand red buildings such as the state high court and public library stand within or beside the grounds. Statues, a bandstand and an aquarium dot the landscape. Closed to traffic on weekends, the park is a beloved retreat from the city's dense, fast-growing urban fabric.
