This elegant two-storey palace of teak was a favoured retreat of the 18th-century ruler of Mysore in the heart of old Bangalore. Built largely of ornately carved and painted wood, it features slender pillars, arched balconies and frescoed ceilings in the Indo-Islamic style. Now a protected monument, its ground floor holds an exhibition on Tipu Sultan's reign and his wars against the East India Company. Set within a small garden beside a market and temple, it offers a rare glimpse of the city's pre-colonial royal past.
