Opened in 2017 across from the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, this is Canada's national memorial to the six million Jews and other victims murdered in the Holocaust. Designed by a team led by architect Daniel Libeskind, its concrete walls form a star of David seen from above, enclosing spaces that guide visitors through confinement, loss and hope. Large photographic murals of the death camps and forests line the interior. A rising ramp leads toward a Flame of Remembrance and views of Parliament, turning grief toward the future.
