Located on a wide traffic island at Brook Gate on Park Lane, this memorial commemorates the countless animals that served and died alongside British forces in twentieth-century conflicts. Unveiled in 2004 and designed by David Backhouse, it features a curved Portland stone wall pierced by a gap through which two laden bronze mules pass. Beyond the wall stand a bronze horse and dog symbolising survival. The inscription notes that these animals had no choice.
