This pair of adjoining Mayfair houses on Brook Street celebrates two musicians who lived in them two centuries apart. The composer George Frideric Handel occupied one from 1723 until his death in 1759, writing Messiah and many operas there. Next door, the rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix rented a flat in the late 1960s, delighting when he learned of his neighbour. The restored Handel rooms display period furniture, while Hendrix's flat has been recreated with his psychedelic decor, forming a double musical portrait.
