Set in a large brutalist concrete building in the San Borja district, this museum has served as a major venue for Peru's archaeological and historical collections. Its galleries and temporary exhibitions have presented reproductions and artifacts spanning the country's pre-Columbian cultures, from Chavín to the Inca, as well as displays on more recent national history. The imposing modernist structure, originally built for a government ministry, offers vast exhibition space in the capital.
