This waterfront district on former industrial and marine-services land has been redeveloped into a public precinct of parks, promenades, restaurants and event spaces. An opening pedestrian bridge links it to the Viaduct basin, and heritage silos and cranes have been retained as reminders of its working past. The area includes playgrounds, a fish market and open lawns used for festivals. Its blend of maritime industry and new public space makes it a distinctive part of Auckland's regenerated waterfront.
