This Beaux-Arts palace facing Plaza San Martín was built in the early twentieth century as the residence of the wealthy Anchorena family and later became the ceremonial seat of Argentina's foreign ministry. Designed by Alejandro Christophersen, it comprises three linked mansions around a courtyard, richly furnished with marble, tapestries and imported art. The state acquired it in the 1930s for official functions. Its opulent salons, used for diplomatic receptions, exemplify grand belle époque architecture.
