One of the three grand terminals clustered at Retiro, this station serves lines running toward the north and northwest of the country. Built in the early twentieth century during the boom of British-financed railways, it features a long platform hall and an ornamented head building typical of the era. The surrounding plaza links it to its larger neighbour and to the city's bus terminal. Though quieter than in its heyday, the station remains a working monument to Argentina's railway age.
