This grand shopping arcade on Calle Florida occupies a nineteenth-century building modelled on Parisian galleries, later reworked with a soaring glass-domed atrium. In the 1940s leading Argentine muralists including Antonio Berni and Lino Enea Spilimbergo decorated the central cupola with allegorical frescoes, giving the commercial hall unusual artistic weight. Restored in the 1990s, the arcade blends retail with a cultural centre. Visitors come as much for the painted dome and Belle Époque interiors as for the shops beneath them.
