This leading contemporary-art museum on Monterrey's great civic square occupies a striking modern building designed by the Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. Its galleries surround a soaring central atrium lit from above and watched over by a large suspended sculpture of a dove. The collection and rotating exhibitions focus on Latin American art, presenting painting, photography, video and installation. Since opening in the early 1990s it has established the city as a centre for the visual arts in northern Mexico.
