This artificial riverwalk winds for over two kilometres through the centre of Monterrey, linking the main civic square with the industrial park to the east. Landscaped banks, fountains, sculptures and footbridges line the water, along which boats carry passengers between the two ends. Opened in 2007, it transformed a former drainage channel into a lively promenade of restaurants and public art that comes alive in the evenings. Its combination of engineering and design has made it a centrepiece of the city's efforts to reclaim its urban core.
