Named for the seventeenth-century monk-artist and first Jebtsundamba, this museum holds Mongolia's foremost collection of religious and traditional art. Its centrepiece is a group of exquisite gilt-bronze Buddhist figures cast by Zanabazar himself, celebrated for their graceful proportions and serene faces. Galleries also present intricate thangka paintings, the scroll 'One Day in Mongolia', appliqué banners and tsam masks. Hidden by curators during the purges, the works make this the best place to appreciate pre-modern Mongolian craftsmanship.
