This Thonburi-side temple, often called Wat Prayoon, is best known for a large whitewashed chedi that won a UNESCO conservation award after careful restoration. At its base sits an artificial hill dotted with miniature shrines and stupas set among ponds full of turtles, giving the grounds an unusually picturesque and contemplative character. Founded in the early nineteenth century, it stands near the foot of the Memorial Bridge and rewards visitors who cross the river with fine waterway views.
