A long, narrow trading lane at the heart of Bangkok's Chinatown, this market has been a hub of wholesale commerce since Chinese merchants settled the district in the nineteenth century. Barely wide enough for two people, it is crammed with stalls selling fabric, ribbons, toys, accessories, snacks and household goods, sold mostly in bulk. Motorbikes and handcarts push through the crush, adding to the frenetic pace. The lane offers a vivid slice of the commercial energy that has defined the Chinatown quarter for generations.
