The mausoleum of the Mughal emperor Jahangir stands in Shahdara Bagh across the Ravi River from Lahore, set within a walled garden in the classic Mughal charbagh layout. Built in the 1630s under his son Shah Jahan, the low sandstone structure is faced with intricate pietra dura inlay and topped by four tall corner minarets. The interior cenotaph is decorated with delicate floral marble inlay and Quranic inscriptions. Together with the adjacent Akbari Sarai and Asif Khan's tomb, it forms one of the finest Mughal funerary ensembles in the region.
