Badshahi Mosque is a Mughal-era mosque in Lahore completed in 1673 under Emperor Aurangzeb, and for many years the largest mosque in the world. The mosque's vast red sandstone courtyard can accommodate up to 100,000 worshippers and is flanked by four octagonal minarets rising to 53 metres. The main prayer hall is embellished with white marble inlay in geometric and floral patterns. The mosque's setting directly opposite the Lahore Fort, with Hazuri Bagh between them, forms one of the most imposing Mughal urban ensembles in the subcontinent.
