This large 15th-century polygonal lake in southern Ahmedabad was built by a sultan as a royal reservoir and remains a favourite recreational hub. A lakeside promenade rings the water, connecting a zoo, a children's park, a toy train, gardens and food stalls. At its centre lies an island garden, Nagina Wadi, reached by a causeway. Musical fountains and evening illuminations draw large crowds, and an annual carnival enlivens the shores, making the historic tank one of the city's most popular family destinations.
