This national academy of fine arts, established in the mid-1950s, promotes contemporary Indian painting, sculpture and printmaking through exhibitions, workshops and publications. Its galleries near the Mandi House cultural hub host rotating shows of modern and emerging artists, while studios support printmaking and ceramics, and an open court displays three-dimensional works. As one of the country's principal state-supported bodies for the visual arts, it plays a central role in the capital's gallery circuit.
