This national institution was dedicated to the ecology and natural heritage of India, with galleries on evolution, biodiversity and conservation aimed especially at younger visitors. Founded in the late 1970s in a central location near Connaught Place, it featured dioramas, skeletons, fossils and hands-on activity rooms designed to make science engaging. A fire in 2016 destroyed much of its collection and building, and plans for its revival have been under discussion since. It remains notable as a pioneering natural history effort.
