A wooded hill and landscaped park rising in central Pyongyang above a bend of the Taedong River, long regarded as a scenic heart of the old city. Its slopes hold historic pavilions and gates surviving from earlier fortifications, alongside monuments and a large open-air theater. Winding paths, terraces, and viewpoints look out over the capital, and on public holidays residents gather here for picnics and folk dancing. The park's blend of traditional structures and green hillside offers a gentler counterpoint to the monumental boulevards below.
