A monumental library and educational institution in central Pyongyang, built in the early 1980s in a grand traditional style with sweeping blue-tiled roofs. Positioned near the main square of the capital, it houses vast book collections and study halls and serves as a center for public lecture and language learning. On guided tours, foreign visitors are typically shown reading rooms, a music-listening hall, and a balcony overlooking the ceremonial square. Its scale and traditional roofline mark the city center.
