A monumental sculpture in Pyongyang commemorating the founding of the country's ruling party, unveiled in 1995 on its fiftieth anniversary. It takes the form of three enormous clenched fists rising from a circular base and gripping a hammer, a sickle, and a writing brush, symbols of the worker, farmer, and intellectual. Encircled by a curved wall bearing revolutionary reliefs, the granite-and-bronze ensemble sits on an axis aligned with monuments across the river. Its bold design is a standard tour feature.
