A large bronze monument on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang depicting the mythical winged horse Chollima, said to gallop a thousand ri in a single stretch, ridden by figures representing workers and peasants bearing a message of socialist construction. Unveiled in 1961, it symbolizes the rapid-development campaign that borrowed the horse's name during the country's postwar rebuilding. The dynamic, rearing form set on a tall pedestal is one of the capital's best-known monuments and appears widely in official imagery, a frequent stop on guided city tours.
