A sprawling traditional market in downtown Busan that grew out of the trade and refugee economy of the Korean War era, when displaced people crowded into the port city. Its warren of narrow alleys is packed with stalls selling clothing, household goods, kitchenware, tools, and street food, organized loosely into specialized lanes. Long a symbol of the city's resilience and enterprise, it lent its name and setting to a hugely popular Korean film about the postwar generation. It adjoins the Nampo-dong shopping district and the fish market.
