A landscaped park immediately west of the former palace, created in the early twentieth century within the grounds of an imperial altar. At its heart stands the square Altar of Land and Grain, a terrace laid with five colors of soil brought from across the empire to symbolize the nation's territory. Renamed to honor the republic's founding leader, the park pairs this ancient ritual site with ornamental gardens and ancient cypresses. Beside the palace moat, it is a quieter green retreat near the ceremonial center.
