A tall granite obelisk rising at the center of the capital's main square, dedicated to those who died in revolutionary struggles across the previous century. Completed in the late 1950s, it stands on a two-tiered platform wrapped by marble balustrades and eight large relief carvings depicting key historical episodes. An inscription in gilded characters on the north face was written by the era's leading statesman. The monument anchors the square's north–south axis and remains a focal point for commemorations.
