A rock shelter on the northern side of Gibraltar where fragments of a Neanderthal child's skull were discovered in the 20th century, an important find for the study of early humans. The site lies near the isthmus that links the Rock to the mainland, in an area now built up. Together with the caves on the eastern cliffs it forms part of the evidence for long Neanderthal presence on the peninsula. The original skull fragments are held in museum collections for research.
