Cathedral of St. Mary the Crowned

The Roman Catholic cathedral of Gibraltar, standing on Main Street on a site used for worship since the era of Moorish and later Spanish rule, when a mosque and then a church occupied the ground. The present building retains a patio and elements from its earlier history alongside later remodelling. It serves as the seat of the Catholic diocese for the territory. Its position on the busy commercial street places it at the heart of daily life in the town.
