O'Hara's Battery

A restored coastal artillery battery near the highest point of the Rock, built to house a large gun aimed to cover the strait and approaches. Set close to the summit ridge, it commands one of the most extensive views in the territory, taking in the bay, the Mediterranean and the North African coast. Visitors can inspect the gun emplacement and learn about its role in the fortress defences. The elevated position makes it a dramatic vantage point on the walk along the top of the Rock.
