Deribasivska is Odesa's celebrated pedestrian street, named after one of the city's founders and long the social heart of its old centre. Lined with acacia trees, cafes, restaurants and nineteenth-century facades, it runs beside the leafy City Garden and fills with strollers, musicians and market stalls, especially in summer. The street has featured in songs, films and literature that shaped the port's witty, cosmopolitan image. Visitors wander its length for the atmosphere.
