Primorsky Boulevard is Odesa's elegant seafront promenade, running along the clifftop above the port and crowning the top of the great ceremonial staircase. Laid out in the early nineteenth century, it is lined with plane trees, benches and a row of dignified neoclassical mansions and hotels. At one end stands the semicircular city hall and a colonnade, and monuments to the city's founders punctuate the walk. Visitors stroll here for the sea breeze, harbour views and architecture.
