This early nineteenth-century palace at the western end of Odesa's seafront was built for a governor-general of the region in a restrained classical style. A long, elegant colonnade extends from the main house toward the sea, framing views over the harbour and forming one of the boulevard's best-loved photo spots. The grounds sit on a promontory above the port, close to the top of the famous staircase. The palace and colonnade remain a favourite for waterfront walkers.
