Rediscovered by excavation in 1996 near the Byzantine Museum, this archaeological site marks the location of the school founded by the philosopher Aristotle in the 4th century BC. The ruins reveal the foundations of a gymnasium, wrestling grounds and covered walkways where teachers and students strolled while discussing philosophy, giving rise to the Peripatetic name. Set within a landscaped enclosure open to the public, the remains include a palaestra courtyard and surrounding rooms.
