The National Gallery of Slovenia holds the country's foremost collection of historical fine art, from the medieval period to the early twentieth century. Housed partly in a grand nineteenth-century hall built for cultural societies, it displays panel paintings, Gothic sculpture, and works by leading Impressionist-era Slovene painters. A glazed atrium links the historic wing to a modern extension and shelters the original Robba fountain sculpture. Located beside Tivoli Park, it belongs to a cluster of cultural institutions in the capital.
